A few years ago, Jeffrey Kung and Malaysian socialite Eunice Tan first met through social media, and what began as an online acquaintance gradually blossomed into romance. Eunice Tan comes from distinguished stock. Her great-uncle is Lee Shin Cheng, the "Palm Oil King of Asia" and founder of the IOI Group, while her father, Tan Kwan Seng, once served as a China executive at Pernod Ricard. Jeffrey Kung never disclosed his Chinese name or his celebrity status to Eunice Tan; it was only when the pair were recognised while holidaying together in Bali, and again drew attention in Beijing, that she realised her boyfriend was a singer. The scenes of meeting each other's parents proved rather amusing. In Hong Kong, Jeffrey Kung burst into song before her parents to prove he really had released an album; in Beijing, Eunice Tan, holding to the principle that one should not accept rewards one has not earned, politely declined the red packet from her future mother-in-law, leaving the older woman somewhat baffled. On the day of the Kuala Lumpur wedding, Eunice Tan donned a white bridal gown and a series of lavish custom-made outfits blending Chinese and Western styles as she and the groom greeted the most important day of their lives. Jeffrey Kung not only submitted to all manner of wedding-game challenges but, to indulge the bride's tastes, learned a K-pop girl-group dance on the spot. Besides performing Old-School Romance at the banquet, he took to the stage with his father-in-law for a duet of Mouse Loves Rice. At 44, Jeffrey Kung was so overcome with emotion during the wedding rehearsal that he could not hold back his tears. "That moment felt so real, so moving to me," he said.
